Hello you lovely folks! Thank you for all your messages, feedback on the chat function, supportive tweets and virtual hugs. Love ya!
So, I’m working from bed due to everything hurting thanks to the low atmospheric pressure, rain and proper November weather which has descended. I don’t know if it’s a parky thing but no one needs a barometer with me around, I can tell you the pressure changes in an instant! I found this article interesting and this one is about the weather’s general effect. I certainly find warmer weather levels my symptoms out, sunshine helps my mood and I am less stiff. I know some of you struggle if it gets too hot and I have heard that ice baths are a great treatment. Not for me…I’d simply die. I belong in a climate that doesn’t get below 20ºc. Aberdeen, Scotland perhaps is the wrong place 🤪
This leads me to a very important question.
As most of you know I am a football fan. However, the World Cup is not something I cannot bring myself to support this time. In a nutshell, these are my objections:
Homophobia.
The death and mistreatment of 1000’s of immigrant workers.
The heat - the modern games is so athletic that simply drinking more water isn’t going to be effective protection in 105ºF.
The disruption of the European leagues - risk to players’ careers through injury by having to play more games per week, the disadvantage to clubs without large squads.
The cost - $220 bn…I can think of better ways to spend that money given the crisis affecting much of the world.
FIFA blatantly show off their money-grabbing ways.
Qatar isn’t even a country with a long footballing tradition, they have had to build an entire infrastructure to accommodate a sport they barely play.
I will spend the next month learning backgammon.
I want to say a quick word about Twitter. A little like my rant above, I struggle with the new ownership. Musk reminds me of Homelander from the very excellent The Boys.
But I haven’t left. The reason is our Parkinson’s community. Essentially it is the only reason I am on Twitter although I do follow some nice travel, nature and history bods. I don’t have other social media and really don’t have the spare dopamine to learn a new system that may or may not be a decent replacement. So in spite of my feelings about Sauron Musk, I shall prevail, for now.

This week the fabulous Claire reminds us of a very important thing for PwP:
Have a great week xxx
with love

Hi Emma, what can l say except:
- football in Qatar is criminal and that Fifa guy Sepp Blatter is a sleazy scumbag
- weather- wise l'm a not too hot and not too cold type of gal....l think low pressure might be bad for my migraines though
- mulled wine. Not for me.. Malbec?? Definitely.
- twitter?...well, tbh, not noticed anything different yet except some nice people have left which l think is a great pity. Let the nasty troll types leave instead. Hope most of us stick around and hope Elon keeps his sticky fingers offa us
- so l ended up saying loads! 😂
Emma, look after yourself! Hope you're feeling better again. Thanks for your wonderful work we all appreciate and love you (and Lily). Daughters are wonderful ❤️
Sending big digital hug to wet&windy Aberdeen. Same here today. Love, Sarah
Absolutely with you on everything here! (Weather and air pressure have a horrible effect on all my conditions, too) xx
