Hello my darlings! Thank you as ever for the shares, comments, and all round love xxx
Well, these are busy weeks, aren’t they? I feel like I was only in your inbox a few days ago!
As always thank you for having me :)
I just wanted to write a very quick missive about wine. It’s my tipple of choice - specifically a nice glass of red. Not only do I appreciate the taste but I find it has a miraculous effect on my general wellbeing.
Not just that it means I don’t give a shit if the laundry hasn’t been done or the kids are killing each other, but my PD symptoms smooth out a little.
I suffer from appalling circulation, always have.1 But when I take even a few sips of red wine after a few moments I begin to get some warmth. By which I mean my hands are less like touching an ice-block and more fridge chilled.
How the hell do you survive in Scotland? I hear you ask. The answer - not well. I belong in Saharan levels of heat.
I also find my tremors and wobbliness improve. Now I know what you are thinking and yes, of course, too much and I can put Jack Sparrow to shame. But a little just evens me out.
I tend to less of the low-blood pressure dizziness and my fatigue can almost disappear. I experience less pain as well.
I expect there are tonnes of research papers extolling the virtues and harms of such imbibing.
But for now, for me, after an already busy week…cheers!
with love

P.S I am now narrating all my letters for accessibility reasons xxx
Probably another early indication of Parkinson’s.
As our family Vicar used to say: "When St Paul said, 'Take a little wine for thy stomach's sake', he didn't mean 'Rub it on'." 🥰🥰🥰
Medical research people need to take note.
