Hello and welcome! Lovely to see some new faces here. 👋🏻 Thank you for your responses to this week’s Tumbled - ‘The internet’s only Parkinson’s rom-com’.
✍︎
So, I am doing something a little different this week and offering some real solutions to our parky probs.
Our daily battles with grooming, makeup and generally attempting to look (and feel) that we haven’t just crawled out of the swamp need addressing.
When I mentioned, in passing once to someone, how challenging I found putting on my makeup they looked me up and down and asked why did I bother?
Rather than witter on to you about the injustices of this little comment I shall rise above it and share my findings - some products that might make our lives a little sexier. (I have no affiliation with any of this stuff - I can’t be bought for a cocktail, you know *)
Shave & Shower
Weighted Razor Cuff :: adapted razor holder for shaky hands
I find anything weighted is pretty handy with the shakes. I reckon you could probably source something like this anywhere on the web.
I love these soaps, the rope is very helpful in the shower. They have a lovely non-girly smell and are all-natural. (Also, lovely company. I use their cleaning stuff, too!)
Tooth & Nail
Own Harmony Electric Foot File Callus Remover & Electronic Nail File (4 in 1)
There are a ton of these types of items out there but this looks pretty good judging from reviews.
Looks terrifying but I think from the reviews it would be good. I do find my electric toothbrush works well, even if it does end up my nose at times 😂
Dent-O-Care Floss Holder | Simple Flossing | Easy-to-grip handle
We use these are they are ace! Better for the environment as they are reusable. A little fiddly to tie the floss on.
Make-Up
Magnitone BlendUp Vibra-Sonic Makeup Blending Brush
Basically, a kinky sounding makeup brush but I get a tired arm blending foundation so this is genius!
The Quick Flick Vegan Eyeliner Stamp
I’m not sure how well this will work with my wrinkles but it looks fun and easier than poking your eye with a pencil.
I am reading LOTS of great things about these products and they certainly look more manageable than standard brushes etc.
Guide Beauty | Artistry Made Easy
The designer of this range has Parkinson’s and the products look fab. Expensive UK shipping as always though.
Other great products I use:
Trinny for easy blush and eye shadow. Mostly I can open the pots (although I have been harassing them to develop a flip-top) Easy application of cream-based products that are subtle enough if I don’t apply with full accuracy. Ahem.
Hair
LUSH Fresh Handmade Cosmetics | Vegetarian & Cruelty Free | LUSH
Shampoo bars and soaps BUT the lids on their products are difficult to pop off without spilling contents.
Again probably find this cheaper elsewhere or make one…
I also spend a ridiculous amount of time decanting into pump bottles and easy-open containers!
I would love you to share your products and suggestions…just hit reply to this email.
*Don’t believe the hype…I can definitely be bought for a cocktail! But I’m still not affiliated with any of these companies.
With Love
Emma xx
